Junya Watanabe studied under Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo and began his career in 1993 with the launch of his own collection. Renowned for his innovativeness and distinctly avant-garde, his style is also knew as ‘techno couture': mixing cutting-edge fabrics, original tailoring and complex draping.
